The Craft Assembles in Wilmington

On Sunday, August 30, 2026, the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Delaware assembled at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington for the August Quarterly Celebration. Brethren of this jurisdiction were called to assemble at 8:30 in the morning and entered in a body in full regalia, joined by the Sisters of St. Matthews Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
The August Quarterly is the oldest continuously held African American festival in the United States. It was begun in Wilmington in 1814 by the Reverend Peter Spencer, who the year before had established the Union Church of Africans as an independent Black denomination. This year's observance marked 212 years.
An appreciation luncheon followed the service at the Monday Club in New Castle.
